THE JOINT H2020 INITIATIVE 'BRIDGE'& HOW GOFLEX CONTRIBUTES

Bridge was established in November 2015 as a cooperation group for all LCE Smart Grid and Storage projects funded under Horizon 2020. Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly € 80 billion of funding available over seven years (2014 - 2020).

The aim of Bridge is to share knowledge, experiences and best practices between projects that are tackling similar challenges, and to allow projects to speak to the European Commission with one voice. Therefore, four Bridge H2020 Working Groups have been teamed up: Business Models, Consumer Engagement, Data Management and Regulation. GOFLEX is represented in all Working Groups.

Since its beginning, the Bridge initiative has grown from 17 projects involving 242 organisations in 23 countries to 29 projects involving 332 organisations in 29 countries.

The main goal of the BRIDGE initiative in 2017 is to analyse the EC’s Clean Energy for All Europeans package ("winter” package) of proposals delivered in November 2016. Projects are working towards identifying the parts of the EC proposals which may need to be amended or supplemented to facilitate the deployment of their demonstrations; in line with the perspectives of the BRIDGE WGs. For instance, in the WG regulation a current GOFLEX issue is "Regulations that might hinder the introduction of dynamic prices of energy flexibilities”.

A Bridge Newsletter reports every six months (spring and autumn) about all project news.
