In its online customer magazine, SIEMENS shares Wunsiedel's journey
towards a better future - facilitated by the energy transition.
SIEMENS emphasizes the prominent visitors such as members of the EU commission that have
stepped by to learn from the prime example and GOFLEX-site Wunsiedel. Since 1998, the city and
utility developed and implemented a strategy for an efficient local
energy supply which allows to preserve resources until 2030. Renewable
energy sources and an intelligent sector coupling are cornerstones of
the concept.

The project Generalized Operational FLEXibility for Integrating Renewables in the Distribution Grid (GOFLEX) has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 731232.
